Uber and Lyft will soon offer free trips to COVID-19 vaccine locations

If you’re having trouble getting to COVID-19 vaccine locations, a new partnership between the U.S. government and ride sharing services could solve that.

If you’re having trouble getting to COVID-19 vaccine locations, a new partnership between the U.S. government and ride sharing services could solve that. According to The Wall Street Journal, Uber and Lyft are joining the Biden administration in a plan to transport COVID-19 shot recipients to and from vaccine sites for free.

Uber and Lyft will reportedly help get the word out about the free rides via their respective mobile apps. The U.S. government, in turn, will “provide data on about 80,000 vaccination sites to Lyft and Uber,” ensuring the companies know how to get riders to the nearest COVID-19 vaccine locations.

As part of the initiative, the trips provided by Uber and Lyft will run until July 4. President Biden is aiming to have at least one dose of vaccine in “70% of the U.S. adult population” by that date.
